All At Once 06:07
stupid thoughts, just noise content spinning out of control just another idea for you to workshop drunk at home sit up straight now, keeping poise having no goal is the goal a mental vacation from the things you can't let go if morning comes here in the dark of night i hope i'll have the sense to fall back asleep dreams need to stop ruling my life it's everything, it's nothing, all at once riverbed flowing dead quiet water running through my head just another chance for me to rewrite things i've said hold your breath now, shut your face ink is running down the page a bullshit arrangement just for you to find your place if morning comes here in the dark of night i hope i'll have the sense to fall back asleep dreams need to stop ruling my life it's everything, it's nothing, all at once all at once what will it take for you to wake up? what will it take for you to wake up now? stupid thoughts, just noise content spinning out of control just another idea for you to workshop drunk at home sit up straight now, keeping poise having no goal is the goal if morning comes here in the dark of night i hope i'll have the sense to fall back asleep dreams need to stop ruling my life it's everything, it's nothing

Deep Sleep 04:46
i didn't want, want to be the one alone with the smoking gun i can see the damage has been done it's time to start the song your face pressed against the glass my arms reaching for the door your voice echoes in the words that we had spoke before building up for the let down awake and alert for keeps alone in a big crowd ready for sleep the rearview in front of me firearm by my side intention with no doubt i'm in it too deep big teeth chomping at the bit my head reeling in what's left i can hear the voices recorded through the stereo five words all that's really left no reason to worry anymore speak now forever keep the peace within our hearts and minds building up for the let down awake and alert for keeps alone in a big crowd ready for sleep the rearview in front of me firearm by my side intention with no doubt i'm in it too deep in it too deep guilt enough to get going outside while the city, the city sleeps no idea what i'm doing am i just another seed? i didn't want, want to be the one alone with the smoking gun i can see the damage has been done it's time to stop

Ripcord 06:19
hey now knock my jaw back up to the middle it seems as if i'm lipping off again a verbal array of senselessness, a mess, i guess let me tell you the best has yet to come now jump out and forget the ripcord who's keeping track anyway? modify walk my sore ass back up to the start of it so i can hold my nose and just jump again don't ruin my day by telling me i've succeeded no, as i said son the best has yet to come now jump out and forget the ripcord who's keeping track anyway? modify the scoreboard it got us in trouble before but now i refuse to care it got us in trouble before but now i refuse it got us in trouble before but now i refuse now jump out and forget the ripcord who's keeping track anyway? modify the score modify got us in trouble before

starting out clean slate naive and vulnerable, and ever so susceptible we had nothing but time but the years can leave you reeling, with a sinking feeling now i'm staring at a screen part man and part machine, dreaming of waking holding out and holding on digging in with two feet till one more piece of me is gone sinking, sinking moving up and moving on push it down the line till one more piece of me is gone we burn, we try we'll do what we must do to survive we live, we get by right here where dreams go to die we're doing so much more with less still we try to do our best, but i confess we just push it down the line save it for another time on our own dime are you alive out there? can we survive in here? dreaming of waking holding out and holding on digging in with two feet till one more piece of me is gone sinking, sinking moving up and moving on push it down the line till one more piece of me is gone we burn, we try we'll do what we must to survive i want my fire back, like when i was young i don't want to regret all the songs unsung there's gotta be so much more than this so much more that i can't miss and now i'm asking why we settle here where dreams go to die

i'm all smiles with you i need a tune up a leg up new get up a way to change something into the same this shit's no longer cutting it it's duller than daytime, older than dirt and i'm ready to bury myself again i'm all smiles when you enter the room and i'm a child when you move it's the kind of thing you can't let go and a feeling forever new with every moment you stutter you stall lose ground and find your way back, falling down wits no longer helping this with others your blunders destroy the words you spend time to craft so well, oh well i'm all smiles when you enter the room and i'm a child when you move it's the kind of thing you can't let go and a feeling forever new i'm all smiles with you i'm all smiles with you if the critics were always right i would have fallen by now the words never fit the page i'm sick of crawling back to you we're only making a mountain, an ocean a house, a home a life into our own fire to gas, sit back relax i know all the flames will mask this pain and bring us back to feeling ourselves again i'm all smiles when you enter the room and i'm a child when you move it's the kind of thing you can't let go and a feeling forever new i'm all smiles with you i'm all smiles with you if the critics were always right i would have fallen by now the words never fit the page i'm sick of crawling back to you all i know is how to let go and all i know is how to move on leave it all unresolved the same thing is happening

about

Recorded May - December 2011 at (Null) Studio, Minneapolis, MN
Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jason Bauer
Produced by Seconds Before

Gravity Well, the third Seconds Before album, is what's commonly known in highfalutin circles as a "labor of love". It required more work and time than anything else we had ever attempted before, but once the songs began to come together, there really was no escaping the pull of this project. We had talked about trying to record a song or two ourselves and see how things came out, but by the time we had our recording process and new HQ locked down, we also had a big batch of songs that we were excited about. It felt like we had an album of songs that worked together, so that's what we did. It only took the better part of a year - not bad, right?

Two of the songs may be familiar for those who've been with us for a while - "Just Drive" and "Fight Vs Fight" are oldies but goodies from ten years ago that have stuck with us and grown into new forms that mesh well with the other eight tracks. We were thrilled to have our friend Jeremy Jessen (AllTheWayRider) join us for a guest vocal appearance on "Where Dreams Go To Die". Most of all, we had fun making this record - even though it took a long time, it was worth savoring. We are very happy to share this record with you. Thanks for listening.
